Next weekend, January 19-21, our elders will retreat locally in order to prayerfully discuss the needs of our church family in the coming year. They will pray about our minister search as well as our members' individual needs for prayer and healing. Their time of retreat intentionally follows the meetings that the elders have had with each one of us in the past couple of months, because they listen to our church body and put our needs to prayer.

As we are grateful to our elders for their devotion to our church body, for their seeking wisdom from God the Father, let us return that act of Christian love by praying for them as well. Let's be in prayer for them as they will be in prayer for us. Please consider participating in the prayer vigil for this coming weekend, January 19, 20, and 21. Sign up for a spot in the prayer chain in the form below. If it's hard for you to commit to a certain time block on a give day, select "other time this day" as an encouragement that we are all in prayer together.

Please lift up our church body, our minister search, each elder and wife, our minister of youth and families Sharon Hilliard, our senior interim minister Paul Watson, and our associate minister Isaac Reeser. Please also lift up Ben Ries and his family during this time of stress.

Below are a few Scriptures regarding praise for God, pleas for God, and words of encouragement in times of doubt. Our body will keep growing together in Christ and in prayer!

Psalm 9:1,2 I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High
.

Psalm 17 6, 7 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
Show me the wonders of your great love,
you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.

Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Isaiah 40: 26-31 Look up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, 'My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God?'
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Romans 5:1-5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into his grace in which we now stand... And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Romans 8:25-27 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.

Romans 12:2 Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in his mighty power

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

Colossians 3:12-17 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

James 5;13-16 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make them well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

1 Peter 4:7-8 Be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
